To initially reach the required standards then to remain competent and up-to-date with new technology, training is required. This page is dedicated to training related photos.

An important part of training for Firefighters to learn and remember how to safely, correctly and quickly operate appliances. An example of this training is illustrated by this photo of various gauges and connections.
A new type of appliance like the Varley Commander Type 5 pumper requires firefighters to be trained and assessed on their operation.
As you progress through the ranks to Station Officer level, not only do you need to know how to be a Firefighter, you are also responsible for your team of Firefighters in various ways, requiring more training.
Specialist Firefighters such as Rescue Operators require specialised training, refreshers and practice.
