NSW Fire Brigade - Page 1

Miscallenous Images

The NSW Fire Brigade is the major combat agency for fire related emergencies within their service area (fires outside their service area are attended to by the Rural fire Service).  Attending Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) emergencies statewide are the responsibility of the NSWFB.

These images do not fall into the categories of Service Vehicles, Appliances or Stations so are placed here. The first series of images are from the Fire Safety Day held at Panthers Leagues Club, Penrith, October 2001.

I'd hate to be in the stretcher high above the ground in the high wind that was occurring at the time!

It's not quite a Stairway to Heaven but it's a ladder to the sky!

It is time to put the wet stuff on the red stuff as part of a demonstration - problem was, there was no red stuff (apart from the Fire Engines of course!)

You would think that with all of the equipment on a Fire Engine, you would not need Fire Extinguishers! However, not all fires are large enough for hoses and extinguishers can be quicker and easier.

Once upon a time, it was a case of plugging the hose in and turning on the tap. In this modern age, a Firefighter must attend training on the various types of Fire Engines and how to read and operate all of the various gauges.

"When I grow up, I want to be a Varley Commander!"

This mini Fire Engine (worth $5000) has a TV and video inside so kids can pretend to drive a Fire Engine (and hopefully learn something about Fire Safety!).

No, this is not the skinniest Fire Fighter you have ever seen! It is the ultra important HAZMAT type suit  on display attached to Regentville's pumper. October 2001.

An important job of the NSW Fire Brigade is public education. The Bushwise Puppet Theatre is performing at Fire Safety Day at Penrith Leagues Club in October 2001.

Me in charge of a fire hose (scary thought?).............beware of a hose wielding Erk! And yes, I am aware that my hands are not 100% in the correct position at the time of these photos - this was my first time! Thanks Tim for taking the photos.
