NSW Fire Brigade - Fireground Photos

Seven Hills HAZMAT

February 15, 2002

NSW Fire Brigade were called to reports of toxic fumes near a group of offices in Seven Hills. Further investigations revealed that a waste disposal truck had recently been adjacent to the offices and nitric acid had mixed with food additives and created fumes. On my arrival on scene, two appliances from Seven Hills & Blacktown were on scene as well as 2 HAZMAT (Hazardous Materials) Units working towards making the scene safe and venting the area. Police and Ambulance also attended.

Overall, 12 people working in the offices took themselves to Blacktown Hospital and 6 further people were taken to the same hospital by Ambulance. Several Emergency Services workers attended Blacktown & Mt Druitt Hospitals for checks after leaving the scene.
